How does it keep the layout?
PDFPal parses your document into an intermediate representation that separates the visual layout from the text. It translates the text with formulas masked as placeholders, then re-anchors the translation onto the original layout and rescales each paragraph to fit.
How does pricing work?
1 credit equals 1 translated page. New accounts get 20 free pages, and paid plans add a page allowance each billing period (monthly, or the whole year's pages up front on yearly plans). Premium engines such as Gemini Flash, Claude and Kimi use 2 credits per page; the engine picker shows each engine's rate and the estimated cost before you start. Failed jobs are refunded automatically.
What about scanned PDFs and formulas?
Formulas, sub/superscripts and inline math are preserved verbatim. PDFPal needs a text layer: there is no built-in text recognition (OCR) yet, so a scanned, image-only PDF has to go through an OCR tool first. If you upload one anyway, the job fails and your credits are refunded. Scanned-PDF mode then keeps image-heavy pages clean.
Is my data safe?
Your documents are processed on isolated workers, stored privately and shared back to you only through short-lived signed links. Files are kept until you delete them or close your account; deleting a finished translation removes its source and translated PDFs. PDFPal never uses your documents to train models; the text to translate is sent to the provider that runs the engine you choose, which may include a model-routing service (see the Subprocessors in our Privacy Policy).
